Overview
Mistfall Hunter is the latest extraction ARPG that combines the high-stakes extraction genre with dark medieval fantasy. If you're new to the genre, finding your bearings in the brutal world of Mistfall can be tough. We're here to provide you with the top 10 tips and tricks to get you on your feet.
1. Choose Your Class Wisely
Mistfall Hunter has six classes, each with unique strengths and weaknesses. If you're starting out and trying to learn the flow of combat, we recommend starting with the Blackarrow. It gives new players room to make mistakes since it relies on ranged attacks, allowing you to learn the maps and enemies safely before engaging in brutal melee combat.
2. Don't Be Afraid to Change Classes
While you can create different characters with different classes, you can also switch out the class of your character for a fee while maintaining the same level. Be aware that there is a cooldown timer for switching classes, which increases as you level up.
3. Your Base is Shared
As you get more familiar with the game and want multiple high-level classes, you don't need to start over from scratch collecting materials to upgrade your base. The base is tied to your account, not your character. All your characters share the same facilities (warehouses, forges, etc.).
4. Don’t Ignore the Monsters While Leveling
It is tempting to head straight for hotspots of player activity and treasure, but this is high-risk. Take it slow and try to take out every monster you see on your way to the objective. This ensures a steady supply of basic materials and, more importantly, experience points that help you level up faster and unlock crucial skills and talents.
5. You Don’t Always Have to Fight Players
When you run into another player, you don't necessarily have to fight them to the death, especially if you spot them first. You can reposition and move away. However, be aware that about 99% of player interactions in Mistfall Hunter are non-friendly. If a team spots you, it is almost always a certainty that a duel is about to commence.
6. Take Care of Your Equipment
As you take on enemies, your gear will go through wear and tear. It is important to visit the Forge after each run to repair your gear. The repair cost goes up exponentially as your durability goes down, so it is far more cost-efficient to repair equipment while it still has high durability rather than waiting for it to break.
7. Check the Auction House
While looting is the main source of materials, you also gain 'Gyld' (in-game currency) when you extract. You can spend this in the Auction House to get rare materials or high-rarity gear that refuses to drop for you due to bad RNG.
8. Use Combat Bags
Mistfall Hunter features "Combat Bags"—predetermined loadouts that equip you with a full set of gear corresponding to the rarity of the bag. These are incredibly helpful if you lose all your equipment. If you successfully extract while using one, you get to keep the gear!
9. Basic Gear Can Be the Best Choice
Dying means losing your hard-earned loot, but there's a silver lining: you always respawn with basic starting equipment (basic weapons and healing potions). If you run out of potions in your stash, you can go into an exploration with bare minimum equipment. Whether you extract or die, you'll get those basic potions back, resulting in a net positive.
10. Check In On Your Facilities
Facilities operate in real-time. Crafting new weapons or gear will require you to wait real-life hours. Check in at your Forge, Scavenger Squad, and Soulcatch Tree regularly to collect finished items and start the next batch so you get the most out of your base while you play.
