Overview
The Mercenary is rated as one of the best and most beginner-friendly classes in Mistfall Hunter. This "Chaos Mode" build primarily makes use of the Sword & Shield for dealing damage and controlling space, with additional mobility provided via the Warhammer's Hammer Dash.
Best Gear & Affixes
This build focuses heavily on increasing survivability and movement speed to keep up with agile classes like Blackarrow and Sorcerer.
Affix Breakdown:
- Aegis: Defense +75%, Physical Resistance +2.5%. Your core defensive stat.
- Stoic: Physical & Magic Resistance +5.5%. Restores 15% Health when dropping low.
- Valor: Attack +7.5%, Defense Penetration +1.8%.
- Seeker: Movement Speed +6%, stacking up to 2 times. Mandatory for closing gaps.
- Elusive: Dodge Energy Cost Reduction +20%.
- Resilience: Debuff Duration -20%. Prevents you from being stun-locked.
- Vitality: Maximum Energy +20 and overdraft immunity.
Tip: Drink Victory Wine to push Aegis, Seeker, Elusive, Resilience, and Vitality to their max thresholds.
Core Skills
You will primarily use the Sword & Shield, only swapping to the Warhammer for mobility.
Sword and Shield
- Shield Dash: Provides incredible movement speed after use. It is your primary tool for keeping up with fast ranged classes.
- Shield Slam: Has the incredible utility of slowing enemies on hit for a small period of time.
Warhammer
- Hammer Dash: Used purely for added mobility in combat.

- Sword Edge & Blade Charge: Grants Sword Tip stacks on hit to trigger your forward momentum sword hit, increasing overall main weapon damage.
- Stacking Blade: Reduces the stacks needed to enter Blade Edge, speeding up your damage loop.
- Rising to the Challenge: Hitting enemies with your block counter will temporarily stun them.
- Absolute Punishment: Hitting an enemy with
Shield Dashreduces its cooldown, allowing you to stay glued to ranged targets. - Bounce: Quickly cast
Shield Slamdirectly out of a block. - Raging Earth Shake: Adds extra slow and stun effectiveness to
Shield Slam. - Dash: Increases the distance of
Hammer Dash.
Tips & Tricks
- The Stun Gateway: Stunning enemies is essential. Use
Shield Slamto slow and stun, then don't waste any time taking advantage of that opening to unleash damage. - Relentless Chase: Affixes like
SeekerandElusiveare meant to punish retreating enemies. Stay aggressive and run them down, provided it's not at the cost of your own life. - Weapon Swapping: Don't worry about attacking with the Warhammer in combat. Swap to it strictly for the
Hammer Dashto cover ground, then instantly swap back to the Sword & Shield to engage.
